pgh.golf, custom software designed and built by Miles Media

Who they are

pgh.golf is a custom software product we designed and built ourselves. It is a searchable directory of golf courses across Western Pennsylvania, with maps, live conditions, and booking, and it is the kind of platform we build for clients who want to own a category locally rather than rent space in someone else's marketplace.

What they needed

If you want to play golf near Pittsburgh this weekend, there was no single place to see what is nearby, what it costs, and whether you can get a tee time. The information existed, scattered across a few hundred individual course websites of wildly varying quality.

A directory only works if the data is right. Wrong phone numbers and out-of-date rates are worse than no directory at all, so most of the work here was not design.

What we built

The site covers 186 courses across eight regions, each with the details a golfer needs and a booking path where one exists. There is a map for people who think in terms of how far they will drive, and search for people who already know the name.

The data was gathered and cross-checked programmatically, then verified against course sources rather than trusted from a single scrape. Course details, coordinates, and rates all went through that process.

Because every course gets its own page with genuinely useful content, the site earns local search traffic for hundreds of specific queries rather than competing for one generic term.

What made the difference

186 courses, eight regions

Enough coverage that the answer to where can I play is on the site, not somewhere else.

Data checked, not just collected

Course details were verified against sources rather than trusted from one scrape, because a directory with wrong numbers is worse than none.

Hundreds of search entry points

A page per course means the site competes for hundreds of specific local searches instead of one crowded phrase.
