Getting found by the people already looking for what you do
Nobody wants SEO. What you want is the phone to ring, and for the person calling to already be half sold. This page explains exactly how we go about that, in plain words, including the parts most agencies leave out.
Somebody in Ross Township needs a plumber. They pick up their phone and search. In the next four seconds they will pick one of the first two or three results, call, and never think about it again.
Everything we do is aimed at you being one of those two or three. Not at rankings for their own sake, not at traffic numbers, and not at a report full of graphs. At being the one they call.
That is worth saying plainly because a lot of SEO gets sold on things that sound impressive and change nothing. Traffic that never turns into a customer is a vanity number. So is a first-place ranking for a phrase nobody searches.
For most local searches in Pittsburgh, the top of the page is not the normal blue links at all. It is the map, with three businesses in a box.
Search "web design pittsburgh" on a phone and you will not see a single ordinary result without scrolling. Same for plumbers, dentists, contractors, restaurants. That box takes the clicks, and getting into it is a different job from ranking underneath it.
Two things decide who is in there: how close you are to the person searching, which you cannot change, and your reviews, which you can. A business with forty reviews beats a business with three almost every time, regardless of whose website is better.
So if you hire us and your Google listing is thin, that is where we start. It is the cheapest win available and most businesses have never been told about it.
In the order we do it, and in plain language.
What you show up for today, what you do not, and who is beating you. Not a 40-page audit. A short honest answer about where the gap is and whether we can close it.
Categories, service areas, hours, photos, services, and a plan for getting reviews. This is usually the single biggest change, and it happens in the first weeks rather than month six.
Pages that load slowly, pages Google cannot find, pages that say nothing, missing titles and descriptions. Unglamorous, and it is what unblocks everything after it.
Most businesses have one page for six services and no page for the towns they serve. Somebody searching for one specific thing in one specific place needs a page about that.
Directories, local press, chambers, suppliers, associations. Google reads what other sites say about you, and for a local business those mentions carry real weight.
This does not finish. Every month you get what changed, what it produced, and what we are doing next, in language you can act on.
A short report showing calls and form submissions from search, what you rank for and where that moved, which pages brought people in, and what we did that month. One page, in plain English, not a dashboard export with forty metrics on it.
Then a note about what we are doing next and why. If something is not working, that is where you will read about it. We would rather tell you a tactic failed than keep billing for it and hope the graph goes up eventually.
You also keep everything. Your website, your Google listing, your analytics, your domain, all in your name. If you leave, none of it comes with us.
The honest answer is that it depends what is broken, and that anybody promising a date is guessing.
What we can say from doing this repeatedly: Google listing work shows up fastest, sometimes in weeks, because reviews and a complete profile move the map results quickly. Fixes to the website itself usually show in one to three months. New pages targeting things you have never ranked for take three to six, sometimes longer in a competitive category.
If somebody guarantees you page one in thirty days, they are either targeting phrases nobody searches, or they are buying links. The second one works briefly and then Google stops trusting your site, which is far harder to undo than never having done it.
A growing share of customers no longer type a search at all. They ask an assistant who the good contractor is and take the two or three names it gives them. There is no page two in that answer.
Most of what makes you visible there is the same work described above, done properly. The emphasis shifts toward question-and-answer content and consistency across the sites that mention you. How AI search visibility works.
F.A.Q.
Ongoing local SEO for a small business generally runs a few hundred to around fifteen hundred a month depending on how competitive your category is and how much needs fixing first. You get a specific number after a free review, and if the honest answer is that your budget is better spent elsewhere, we will say that.
No. Month to month. Long contracts in this industry exist because results are slow and clients leave, which is a problem worth solving by doing better work rather than by locking people in.
No, and neither can anyone else. Google does not sell rankings and does not publish the formula. What we can tell you is what is currently holding you back and what it would take to fix, which is a more useful thing to know.
Ads stop the day you stop paying. Search work compounds and keeps returning after you stop. Ads are faster, this is cheaper over time, and plenty of businesses should do both. We will tell you honestly which one fits your situation.
Usually one of three reasons: the work went into phrases nobody searches, the Google listing was ignored, or nobody ever measured whether the phone rang. Ask us to show you the first report before you commit and you will see which of those we are avoiding.
Yes. It is not sent overseas and it is not handed to a junior. You talk to the person doing it.
Then no amount of search work fixes it, and we will tell you that before taking your money. Sometimes the right first step is rebuilding the site rather than optimizing one that cannot convert.
Tell us your web address and what you want more of. We will look at where you currently stand and send you an honest read on what is holding you back, whether or not you hire us.
